What Ice Box does#

  • Freezes and defrosts apps in one tap. Frozen apps cannot run and are hidden from the home screen.
  • Freezes automatically when the screen turns off, or when you tap or double tap the Home button.
  • Creates home screen shortcuts for frozen apps. Tapping one defrosts the app and then opens it.
  • Multiple tabs, themes and icon packs, and fingerprint and PIN lock.
  • Freezes some pre-installed system apps.
  • Provides freezing and defrosting to other apps through an SDK.

For the full list, see Features.

Work modes#

Freezing apps requires system permissions. Ice Box supports Root mode, as well as non-root modes such as Device Owner, Wireless debugging, ADB, Shizuku and Sui. On phones where Island or BlackHouse (小黑屋) is already set as Device Owner, or where Brevent is in use, Ice Box can borrow their permissions directly. See the Help Center for how the modes differ.
